Its crazy to look back to 2004 when I started this little brand called ABSTRAXX. I had no clue what I was doing, I had limited funds, & didn’t even know where to get a screen printed tee produced. Today, after sample after sample after sample, money spent spent spent spent, hours and hours of stress and frustration, I’ve created an entire cut & sew collection that I’m pleased with. I picked fabrics, weight, labels, sizing, colors, cuts, patterns, collar sizes, sourced out manufacturers, negotiated pricing, quantities, payments, etc etc etc.
My moms always tells me to give up, go to school and get an education, and I understand her point of view but it’s just that, her point of view. I always tell her, “All my time/money spent building, learning, & growing ABSTRAXX over these past 9 years is equivalent to someone going to school to become a doctor, but instead of paying tuition, I paid this dude named “STRUGGLE.” The struggle NOT knowing how I’d pay to ship customer orders, to the struggle of emotions that said, “You’ve had enough, give up on ABSTRAXX.” There’s many different reasons why I never gave up on ABSTRAXX, but the number 1 reason is, I consider ABSTRAXX my son. Giving up on him is like giving him up for adoption & I’m not with that life.
Thank you to everyone who has helped my son ABSTRAXX & I get to this position in our unknown journey.
